NORTH FORK EMS ANNOUNCES DISTRICT CHIEF RETIREMENT AND SEARCH FOR SUCCESSOR

North Fork EMS announces that District Chief Kathy Steckel will retire effective July 1, 2026, after 30 years of service to the district and 12 years as District Chief.

The Board of Directors has approved a structured, professional search process to identify the district’s next District Chief. The position has been posted and applications are being accepted through Sunday, April 26, 2026.

“I am proud of what this team has built together,” said Chief Steckel. “North Fork EMS serves this community with skill, dedication, and heart. My goal between now and July 1 is to ensure a seamless transition and to help the Board find an excellent successor who will carry that forward.”

The District Chief position leads a professional EMS agency serving approximately 9,000 residents across the North Fork Valley. Information about the position, including qualifications and compensation, is available at applicant.nfems.com.

North Fork EMS will maintain full operations throughout the transition. Emergency services will not be affected.
