North Fork Ambulance Health Service District has an opening on its five-member board of directors and is looking for someone from our community to fill it. The appointed member will serve through May 2027, with the opportunity to run for election at that time to complete the term through May 2029.
About the role
Board members guide the organization — not the ambulance. The board’s job is financial oversight, long-range planning, policy development, and hiring and evaluating the District Chief. Day-to-day operations are handled by our professional staff. The board meets the third Wednesday of each month at 11 a.m. at our Hotchkiss headquarters.
What we’re looking for
Before putting out this call, our four seated board members each completed a skills self-assessment. We have strong coverage in EMS knowledge, community connection, and rural service delivery. Where we could use help is in public finance and budgeting, risk management, contracting, and Colorado special district law.
The board is not looking for an EMS professional or someone with a clinical background — that expertise is already well represented. If you have a background in finance, accounting, law, or organizational management — and you care about keeping quality emergency care in the North Fork Valley — we’d love to hear from you.
How to apply
Applicants must be a district resident or property owner and a registered voter. Send a brief letter of interest telling us about yourself and what you’d bring to the board:
